BANGKOK, 31 January 2013 The Foreign Minister is set to lead a special delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Thailand’s South for first-hand information on how the country has been handling the Rohingya migrants.

Saudi Arabia yesterday announced a contribution of $ 1.88 million toward UNHCR’s humanitarian program in Myanmar providing shelter to Rohingyas in Rakhine state.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed by Yousef Al-Bassam of the Saudi Fund for Development and Imran Riza, UNHCR’s regional representative in Riyadh.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested more than 85 Rohingya and deported them to Burma after conducting raids from Jan.15-16, according to one local who didn’t want their name used.

The Bangladesh government has rejected comments by Myanmar (Burma) opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, suggesting stateless Muslim Rohingyas may be illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

Myanmar has been rocked by two outbreaks of fighting between Buddhists and Rohingyas since June that have left 180 people dead and more than 110,000 crammed into makeshift camps.
