The sad demise of Prof. Abdul Karim

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioun.

I am really  shocked to hear the sad demise of Prof. Abdul Karim. I met him more than 3 decades ago in Chittagong in our home. He was one of the best known historians of our time who had produced some of the best scholarly writings on history of our area, esp. Chittagong and Arakan. His death is an unfathomable loss to all those who benefited from his neutral and objective analysis of history, esp. to the Rohingya people, who are still fighting for their identity in the land of their ancestors.

No words of mine can solace all the well wishers. May Allah reward him with Jannah, and replace him with yet another great historian who can fit into his shoes and be of service to mankind.
