Arakan Independence Alliance (AIA) expresses its deep concern over the recent untoward development arising out of ‘12/04/07-dated RWU statement’ and urges upon all to stop preaching hatred among our diverse people, and instead to cultivate sense of oneness, under the principle of ‘unity in diversity’ in order to charter the future of the people of Arakan and that of their generations to come.
AIA calls on all organizations, individuals or groups to refrain from activities that affect the sentiment of any people or hamper the process of national reconciliation for unity and peaceful co-existence of the multi-ethno-religious society in ‘integrated Arakan’.
AIA deems that social conflict or problem is not unnatural in a society; but we strongly believe that it must be eradicated with the collective will and effort of all sections of our people, on the basis of reality, with a feeling of fellowship and understanding, for rebuilding a welfare society in
Arakan based on justice, equality, peace and harmony. We must be on guard that our actions do not conflict with our people’s interest. Any inflammatory writings, statements, interviews and information against any racial or religious groups must be condemned and rejected.
AIA cautions that the ruling military State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) and its proxies are employing all venues to permanently divide our people; and the existing disunity among all our fraternal communities in Arakan, preached by the third party, is the real problem which reduces our whole nation to the abyss of the history.
It may be mentioned that AIA is an umbrella organization of the National United Party of Arakan (NUPA) and Arakan Rohingya National Organization (ARNO), founded in November 2000 to serve cohesively the cause and case of the all people of Arakan –irrespective of race, culture and religion — and for their “right of self-determination”.
In the light of the above, the AIA appeals to all patriotic and conscientious people of all Arakanese communities, living at home and abroad, to take the following righteous measures to preserve our people’s unity and peace:
1. To stop launching any cyber (internet) wars, interviews and media releases against any communities, organizations, groups or individuals.
2. To stop any attempt to politicize the social or religious issues.
3. To protect the people from “divide and rule” infectious viruses produced by SPDC and/or any vested interest groups and their proxies.
4. To practice and implement the holistic way of conflict resolution among all people of Arakan on the basis of respect for human rights and democratic principles.
