The Arakan Rohingya National Organisation would like to commend our Director of Women’s Outreach, Razia Sultana, for being awarded the 2019 US International Courage of the Year Award (IWOC) by the First Lady of the USA, Melania Trump.

The IWOC Award recognizes women around the world who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment. The US State Department has recognized more than 120 women from 65 different countries since 2007.

Razia Sultana has been a key voice on Rohingya issues around the world, with her notable intervention at the UN Security Council’s Open Debate on Sexual Violence in Conflict. The ARNO also congratulates Naw K’nyaw Paw of Burma who also does remarkable work in advocating for an end to violence against women, especially those who are targeted by the military and all other recipient of women of courage award for their excellent and exceptional works.
