Iran’s first shipment of humanitarian aid was delivered to Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims in the state of Rakhine.

According to IRIB, the Iranian consignment containing foodstuff, blankets, tents, and some other items were dispatched to Myanmar’s refugee camps in Rakhine through neighboring Bangladesh and were distributed among the violence-stricken and homeless people in the Myanmar western state of Rakhine capital, Sittwe.
The first airplane carrying the first batch of Iran’s relief aid for Myanmar Muslims arrived in Yangon airport, here on Sunday,
The accredited Ambassador of Iran to Myanmar, Hossein Kamalian, told the Muslim refugees there that the Iranian Muslims are deeply worried about the conditions of their brothers and sisters in Myanmar, expressing hope the conditions would soon be better and their rights would be maintained through justice and peaceful efforts by the government of Myanmar.
Kamalian stressed the necessity of supporting the Myanmar Muslim refugees.
Some parliament members, foreign ministry as well as Iran’s Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and Imam Khomeini Relief Committee (IKRC) employees accompanied the humanitarian aid consignment dispatched to Myanmar.
Some 800,000 Rohingyas are deprived of citizenship rights and suffer from a policy of discrimination that has denied them the right of naturalization and made them vulnerable to acts of violence and persecution, expulsion and displacement. The United Nations General Assembly issued a resolution stating that there are “systematic violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms” in Myanmar.
