PRESS RELEASE
6 November 2026 | For Immediate Release
The Arakan Rohingya National Organisation (ARNO) is deeply saddened by the death of Bangladesh Army soldier Md Titas Sheikh, 27, who lost his life in the line of duty during an operation against suspected armed human traffickers in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on 5 November 2026.
ARNO offers its sincere condolences to his family, his colleagues and the Bangladesh Armed Forces. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal peace and gives his family patience and strength. His sacrifice in protecting vulnerable lives deserves our highest respect.
ARNO commends the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Police for their courage and professionalism in this dangerous operation, which reportedly rescued 57 people, including Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals, and led to the arrest of five suspected traffickers. We particularly appreciate the personnel who risked their lives to free people from criminal networks that exploit their desperation.
Human trafficking remains a grave threat to Rohingya refugees and local communities in Cox’s Bazar. ARNO calls for sustained, coordinated action to dismantle these networks, bring those responsible to justice and protect all victims, whatever their nationality or ethnicity.
ARNO also thanks the Government and people of Bangladesh for their longstanding humanitarian support and protection of Rohingya refugees.
We stand in solidarity with the family of the fallen soldier, the Bangladesh Armed Forces and all those working to protect innocent lives.
