The number of people took part in the demonstration was around 200. They included Burmans and different ethnic peoples of Burma, and English or local peoples. The demonstration was staged in front of the Burmese embassy in

Charles Road
at 1 p.m.  After that there was discussion meeting on the event held in Hyde Park, London.
Representatives of the National Council of theUnion Burma, Burma Democratic Movement Association , National League for Democracy (Liberated Area) Generation Students, Arakan Rohingya National Organisation and  Burmese Rohingya Association U.K. took part in the demonstration and discussion meeting.

Nurul Islam, President of ARNO discussed the role of UN in the Burma democracy movement.  He discussed although China and Russia had vetoed in the UNSC the meeting held in January 2006, the international responsibility to protect still lies with the United Nations. The UN has primary responsibility to protect and promote human rights, and to maintain international peace and security the world over. Burma under SPDC has become a threat to international peace and security which warrants “international responsibility to protect” with “individual responsibility of the perpetrators”.  He urged upon China and Russia to review their policies on Burma to respect the will of the Burmese people
